Mandoline slicers are getting popular in every kitchen across the world. They make slicing vegetables easy and in no time. With ordinary kitchen knives slicing vegetables takes lot of time and are also difficult to cut in uniform thickness. To save time and make slicing vegetables easy manufactures have invented a very handy cutting tool known as mandoline slicer.
What is Mandoline Slicer
A mandoline is a kitchen tool used for slicing and for cutting different kind of vegetables; with suitable attachments, It slices vegetable in uniform thickness and it can make crinkle-cuts. Most mandoline slicer consists of two parallel working surfaces that can be varied in height. Vegetables are slid along the adjustable surface until it reaches a blade mounted on the fixed surface, slicing it and letting it fall. The mandoline Julienne comes in different widths and thickness. The best mandoline slicers not only slice vegetables in different thickness and shapes but it also slices many fruits with ease.
History of Mandoline slicer
Mandoline slicers though had become popular since the last decades, but it has origin back to many centuries before. The very first book which illustrates about mandoline slicer was published in the year 1570 by the famous cook of pope Pius VI named Bartolomeo Scappi. The book shows a small wooden board with central cutting blade along with a perpendicular blades to slice vegetables. From the drawings of these vegetable slicers one can guess, they had been invented much earlier. From then there has been various improvements in the vegetable slicers, the first modern wooden vegetable slicer was invented by Marcel Forelle, and in the year this was replaced by the metal version by Haue-Savoie. The earlier versions of the mandoline slicers didn’t have a folding stand. The chef need to held it pressed against his chest to slice the vegetables directly above the dish.
Features You Should Look in Mandoline Slicer
When purchasing a mandoline or spiral vegetable slicer, it’s important to take into account exactly what and also how much you intend to slice, as different slicers have different capabilities for slicing different vegetables. Here are some of the features you should look in a mandoline and vegetable slicers:
Various lock picking techniques are been used by burglars to break-in an unoccupied houses and steal the valuables. The lock picking is easy and can be learned by any person without doing much research. Lock picking works by using few simple tools to exploit some mechanical defects in the locks. Most of the locks are at risk and can be easily open using different lock picking methods. To prevent your door locks getting picked or bumped you should always use high security deadbolts which has 6 pins, since they are difficult to be bumped.
What is Lock Picking
Before you understand what are locking picking, you need to understand how lock works and how they are opened. A pin tumbler door Lock is composed of many components. The outer casing is called the shell, inside this shell is a plug. the plug has a key-way where the key goes in – and the whole thing has a series of pin chambers. When the real key of the lock lifts each pin pair till the gap between the key pin and the driver pin reaches the sheer line. When all the pins are in this position, the plug can rotate and the lock can be opened. When a different key is used it will leave some of the pins protruding between the hull and the plug, and these pins will prevent the plug from rotating and thus lock would not be opened.
Lock picking is one of the technique of opening a lock through the analysis and manipulation of locking components without using the actual key. In this method no destructive force is used and the lock and doors does not suffers and harm. lock picking usually works because of a vulnerability created by mechanical tolerances in the manufacture of locks. Small misalignment in the pin chambers, chambers that are oval, as well as misshapen pins will create what is called the binding effect. But you should understand that no lock can be perfect. Even the high security door locks with highest ANSI grade, there will always be some mechanical tolerances.
Different Types of Locks
There are several types of locks available, but here we will discuss the most common door locks which are mostly used by us.
Pin Tumbler Locks: Pin tumbler locks are less expensive and offers good security. They are usually used for house doors, mail boxes, garage doors and in padlocks. They have close machine tolerances and approximately 1,000,000 different key combinations for 5 pin lock. Considering hundreds or even thousands of companies making pin tumbler locks, the chances of someone having a key that will work in your door lock are one in many billions.

We all know that modern cookware are far more expensive and less durable. They do come in different size, shapes and materials but they all lack the strength and durability that our old cast iron cookwares have. To many of us living in this century, cast iron skillets and pans may sound like something only Grandma would use. But, old-fashioned as they are, but for many professional chefs, nothing is better than this very old cast iron skillet.
Modern non stick pans are popular cause of main two reasons, it does not stick and its easy to clean. But have we ever thought of the danger of using Teflon coated non stick pans?. Environmental Working Group recommends that you choose safer cooking pans to reduce the risk of inhaling toxic particles when you let that non-stick pan get a little too hot. Many of these non stick pans emits toxic fumes such PFOA which can cause health problem because it can stay in the environment and in the human body for long periods of time. Researchers have found that it is present at very low levels in just about everyone’s blood in the United States. Higher levels have been found in the blood of community residents where local water supplies have been contaminated by PFOA. People exposed to PFOA in the workplace can have levels many thousands of times higher.
